Armagh Observatory and Planetarium has teamed up with Disney and Pixar to celebrate the science that inspired the movie “Lightyear”.
The new movie is the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear, the hero who inspired the toy. It follows the legendary Space Ranger after he’s marooned on a hostile planet 4.2 million light-years from Earth alongside his commander and their crew. As Buzz tries to find a way back home through space and time, he’s joined by a group of ambitious recruits and his charming robot companion cat, Sox. Armagh Observatory and Planetarium and science centres and museums around the UK are set to go beyond infinity, discovering the science behind the intergalactic science fiction adventure.
We will be running a national programme of interactive, hands-on and in-person science engagements inspired by the movie.
Every hero has a beginning, start your journey of discovery at Armagh Observatory and Planetarium!
This series of activities and events is being run by The Association for Science and Discovery Centres (ASDC) as part of a nationwide programme. Find out more about ASDC and the details of the planning of the programme here.
